EMDR Intensives : Focused, Efficient, and Immersive

Therapist Office

A Targeted Approach

EMDR Intensives are extended therapy sessions that last 2-4 hours, opposed to the standard 50-minute therapy session. Intensives involve a minimum of 2 sessions per week. Some benefits can include deeper therapeutic work and faster relief.

Who May Benefit

EMDR Intensives tend to work best for those who have experienced a single-trauma event, phobia, performance anxiety, a recent life transition (such as a divorce or loss of loved one) and more.

Who May Not Benefit

Those who have experienced multiple traumas, attachment trauma, or moderate/severe dissociation often work best with slower, extended therapy via once weekly 50-minute sessions. Additionally, those who have severe and untreated mental health conditions (such as current psychosis or addiction) and those who lack social supports are not a good fit for EMDR Intensives.

Your Preferred Delivery

EMDR is effective when done virtually or in-person. If you’re located within driving distance of Walnut Creek, you may be able to meet Elese for in-person appointments. Her office is a 20-minute walk from BART. For those who prefer virtual sessions, you can receive EMDR Intensives online from the comfort and convenience of your home.

What to Expect

Elese will review your personal history and symptoms, help you identify a target(s) for reprocessing, aid you in developing emotional regulation and grounding skills, guide you while you reprocess the target(s), and reinforce changes to your memory networks. While reprocessing the target, you will engage in bilateral stimulation using eye movements, butterfly tap/hug, or tappers (see image).
